Anti-Billboard by lead Pencil Studio
This is the Anti-Billboard by Lead Pencil Studio and funded by the U.S. GSA. I thought it was creative because it's clearly an unusual take on the idea of a billboard, specifically because it's doing the exact opposite of what billboards usually do. It's not selling you anything, it's not taking anything away, it's giving you something. It's giving you inspiration, and a catalyst to thinking creatively about what it could mean. To mean I see the absence of space.
Still Falling into Water
This photo is creative by the use of still photography that is used to show the girl falling into the ocean. Although this picture can be inetrepreted as seeing the girl jumping and taking a still photo to make it seem like she was actually falling into the ocean. Alternatively, this could also be taken by the use of a green screen and or could be digitally painted to resemble a realistic image.

Save Paste
I really liked this because, even though I'm not the most eco-friendly, I do the little I can, and I'm always interested in new innovations and ways that make it actually really easy to help in little ways. The assignment was to find something in a new domain, and last time I did something in visual art, so this time I wanted to find something that was actually useful, and I remembered seeing this. I also like that it doesn't just helps the environment, but I feel like it has the potential to save the consumer money, if there were some kind of "toothpaste refiller service." Plus, now your toothpaste stands up, that's kind of cool haha.

Creative HANDmade Art
Creative Handmade Art
Celeste Resendiz
The artist has a remarkable painting ability as the feathers and eye of the parrot appear very realistic. However, the painting ability only adds to the real genius, uniqueness and beauty of the art piece. The fact that the artist made the parrot out of a human hand is ingenious. It effectively blends to constrasting concepts together: people and animals.

DIY Shoe Storage
I found this idea very creative because someone used an ordinary wire hanger that was generally intended for clothes as a great way to store shoes. It takes an object designed for one particular use and expands the options of possible uses. These ones in particular are also personalized and made fashionable by adding a patterned paper to add a little spice to the over all look.

shoes!
I thought this was really funny. The problem is that wearing heels is painful for some of us gals, so somebody came up with a creative way to wear heels without the pain of actually wearing them! What a genius idea! |

Recycled Hearts
This shows a great way to put used, old, or broken crayons to good use. This is particularly interesting to me because it shows a good way of recycling something that most people and kids just throw away. Most people and kids prefer sharp crayons that are not broken in half. Once they are broken or dull they are just placed in a ziploc bag and rarely used. Most people also buy a new box for their kids every school year. These little crayon hearts also make for a perfect gift. You could also make different patters, or stick to specific color schemes. There are also different silicone pan shapes, other than hearts.

The people to mouse pointer!
http://www.pointerpointer.com/
This website is actually pretty interesting and kind of cool because what it does is locates where your mouse pointer is on the screen and it will produce a picture of someone or a few people that are pointing that your mouse pointer. It is actually a very interesting and creative concept because it seems that it would take a lot of pictures and creative programming in order to produce that effect. I also think it was cool how even if you move your mouse just a little bit it will spit out a different picture that points to the mouse pointer location.

Map of the world made from coins!
http://somewhereinmymind.tumblr.com/post/34164281974/world-currencies
Using different currencies from all over the world, the person who made this created a map of the world. I thought it was super clever and a great way to embrace the uniqueness of each country while uniting all of them in the same picture. Very cool!

Key Lamp Shade
I really like how keys were used to make this lamp shade; this idea is easy to personalize to your own personality depending on what type of keys that one likes to collect. If I were to do something like this, I would use skeleton keys because I love the way they look. I think that a lamp shade using skeleton keys would look very classy and have a vintage vibe to it; however I still really like this key lamp shade as well.

Bouquet of Flowers made out of fruit
They have created a beautiful bouquet of flowers out of fruit I'm guessing they used pineapple for the flower, melon for the middle part and grapes just to add more color or as decoration. This is creative because its not something usually seen and not only can it serve as a decoration but it can be edible which is the best part :)

Elvis Presley Creative Samsung MP3 Player
I found these tiny Elvis Presley earphones pretty funny and creative! Gives the impression of "Tiny Elvis looking inside one's ear"!
Flamingo Portrait
This photograph is particularly interesting to me. Seeing two things in one turns on the lightbulb in my head. Who ever thought of painting themselves or someone into looking like a flamingo had a special way of thinking. Not only are they painted to look like a flamingo, but their stance is in the shape of a flamingo's body. The persons arm is the neck and the head of the flamingo, and the hand is the beak. The person's legs are painted white like the background and then thin flamingo legs are drawn to look like the ones from an exact flamingo. Funny enough this flamingo is also standing on one leg.
Floral Dress
In this photo a rose is being dropped in front of the camera to then mirror th girls dress. When looking at just the rose, the rose is shown as just a simple rose not being part of the girls' dress. The illusion of the photo comes in when you focus on the girl, doing so the rose head suddenly becomes part of the girls' dress while the stem seems to be missing the rose head. This is creative in the sense of the illusion used in still photography, how two items in one photo can merge, and how one's focus is directly proportional on how the photo is seen as a whole.
Tree of knowledge
When looking at this picture first thing that came into mind was the tree of knowledge. I think its creative because they made a book shelf look like a tree and it can simbolize that the more you read the more you can grow.
3D Drawings.
http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/unbelievable-3d-drawings-16
I found these drawings to be extremely creative because these images are 3-dimentional. The images look as if they are popping out at you. The artist also uses objects in order to help reveal the 3D aspect of his drawings. He also uses lighting to help add to the effect of shadowing in his drawings. Although these drawings are very gloomy and somewhat disturbing, they still are very creative and really show talent.

Move Video
http://vimeo.com/27246366
I found this video so intriguing because the concept is so simple, yet the process of putting a video like this together is so complicated. To shoot each video in each place takes a lot of time and effort. Shooting a guy walking doesn't sound that creative, but the director of this video used his creative genius to capture the viewer and keep the viewer watching by adding different elements such as different places, catchy music, and rhythm. I think this is such a creative way to express creativity and is completely genius!

DIY Flower Decor
This was very intriguing to me because it takes something as simple as cupcake holders and makes them into a beautiful decoration. This decoration is also very versatile it could be used at a wedding, baby shower, or even birthday part. It is rare that you find such a versatile decoration that is simple and classy, yet looks complicated.
A Baby's Dream
These photos are taken from a creative mom who snaps pictures of her baby girl while she's sleeping. It is creative in the way that each photo is taken while the baby is laying down, but the viewer is tricked into seeing the image as three-dimensional. It is an illusion. Each scene tells a story and is put together using everyday items not specifically intended for the use the artist chose. For example, the baby's space suit in the second photograph is a pair of pajamas, paper plate, and a piece of string!

Intricate Map on an Apple
I thought this intricately carved apple was very creative, because you can tell it took a lot of effort, as well as not really being a medium you'd usually consider for art. The idea itself is uniquely creative because it combines to subjects you wouldn't normally correlate - which may have been the artist's intention. Initially, after possibly coming up with the idea for something similar to this, I easily would've tossed it out as being to complicated or impossible. I would imagine myself getting frustrated when parts of the apple didn't carve out the way I wanted. However, this highly creative person clearly worked that out as well, which made for a very original take on the idea of the world's "core".

I thought this coffee filter flower was such a brilliantly simple and cost-effective way to decorate your room/house. Who would've ever thought of taking cheap coffee filters and making them into a decorative piece? This is what I meant in class when I was talking about taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary. To the normal person, a coffee filter would be used for its intended purpose: to filter coffee. But, when you throw creativity in the mix, you get something extraordinary like this flower! Really genius.
Mumpkins
http://media-cache-ec6.pinterest.com/upload/183381016046488813_KmRJxYu7_c.jpg
These "mumpkins" particularly stood out to me since we are now in the fall season and the holidays are coming. I personally love to decorate for the holidays and am always looking for new creative ideas. Something like this could last all season up until early december. I have seen a variety of pumpkins decorated with glitter and paint, but never had I seen some like these. I love floral arrangements so this is one of my favorite centerpieces I have seen. The flowers add a certain feel to the pumpkins but we still know that they are pumpkins. The post mentioned that the flowers last from 3 to 4 days. I will definitely be trying to make this for thanksgiving. :)

Creative Universe
I find this to be really creative because it not only incorporates room for creativity( using different colors/setting objects in place, creating hypothetical situations) but also uses real world limits on the objects that are placed in this computer generated Universe. The very fact that a computer can generate accurate simulations also shows the extent that technology is helping broaden our creative mediums to better understand the world around us and inspire new creative thoughts.
Upside Down Jesus Painting!
I wanted to share this masterpiece with those of you who have not seen this Artist's work before. I had never seen anything like this before and found it to be super entertaining to watch. This work is not only unique but very creative in so many different ways. It's a mixture of painting and outstanding performance by the Artist himself. Demonstrating exquisite talent!
SIGNS Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy0HNWto0UY
Okay, I'm struggling on getting this video up so here is the link LOL This video is very creative and unique because theres little to no talking or verbal communication whatsoever, yet, through body language, emotional responses and these "signs," the two main characters are able to communicate and begin to build a relationship. The video is very artistic in that it expresses that people are in need of human social interaction and displays many emotions such as lonliness, hopelessness, sadness and then nervousness, excitement, happiness, joy and so on and all without one word. The young man in the video becomes so happy and excited when he receives signs/messages from a person who he has never actually met but it's very romantic how it plays out.

Drip Paint
Magnetic Board..
I found this creative because it takes an everyday object (cookie sheet) and make it into a unique way to keep things organized or put up reminders. I also love the color, it pops out in a kitchen!

Fresh Guacamole-PES
Music video “Second Go” –LIGHTS
I found the music video to be creative because it defies the
boundaries of conventional music videos, proves to be novel, and combines two
vastly different art forms into a final product that really works. First off, the music video has no editing—it’s
one long shot. I have seen music videos where many scenes are filmed and then
edited into one final video. That seems to be the
standard convention of how music videos are made but this one is different. It
is also unscripted (the singer has a basic idea of what to do but she is pretty
much free to do what she feels as she throws paint everywhere). By the way, did
I mention that the video was shot backwards?
The video to “Second Go” is novel in the way it breaks a lot of the rules of
conventional music videos.
Lastly, the video effectively blends the two art forms of
house décor and music performance into one. LIGHTS is painting a house while
singing and performing at the same time. Ingenious.

Her Morning Elegance
Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen
Creative use of telling a story between two people who die in car accident. Ellie, floating on a cloud, represents her death and being lifted up into heaven. Ellie at the beginning of the video is presumed to be alive but in fact is actually dead. This is evident when she appears in the same dress whilst being lifted by a singular black cloud. The cloud itself could be alluded as a sad ending to her relationship and an a representation of sad and unexpected death.

Welcome to the Psychology of Creativity class 2012
Welcome to the blog for the Psychology of Creativity, Fall 2012. We will be posting here examples of a variety of creative products that we think demonstrate something about creativity and the creative process. We are also open to contributions from the larger University community, so if you or someone you know has produced something creative, we want to hear about it. Feel free also to post links to other sites or photos of works. Please keep in mind community standards within this community, and use discretion about what you post. Creative products are sometimes intended to be offensive, and this is a legitimate form of self-expression, but you should always keep in mind the ideal of respect for your fellow classmates and other members of the University community.
